Art for me is self-revelation. Art making has been a consistent practice throughout my entire life. Drawing and painting have provided endless hours of creating and providing insight into who I am as a person. I enjoy painting in Oils because it is an expressive medium . Capturing that image or putting together a composition in dry or wet drawing medium satisfies a need to record an image, as I perceive it.
My art is influenced by the great masters in art history, especially women artists like Kathe` Kollwitz and Georgia O’Keefe. In my travels I have visited art museums in Italy, France, Greece, Great Britain and here in the USA. Other influences include plant life from the natural world, and people. I feel most like “me” when I am surrounded by nature, whether it is at the ocean or viewing birds at my backyard bird feeders.
Exploration of various subject matter continues to inform my paintings and drawings. I go deep to find subject matter that best expresses an intimate memory, or feeling that I have about some object, nature or person.
